buying/selling your house should be fun, not stressful.

upstairs bathroom finishing touches!

miseEnPlaceOk so it’s just about done! I painted the old trim white and reinstalled it. I stained the old door a lovely shade of mahogany and reinstalled it.

I scored an awesome light fixture for $1 of craigslist.

lightI actually ended up not using the glass because my husband put some super cool round globes in that looked great all by themselves.

And I made a super cool frame for the mirror and custom towel bar out of these old pallets.

palletsI took them apart and gave them a rough sanding. Then I used a thick coat of water based clear stain. Quickly, I brushed a very light coat of oil based dark stain. The oil and water don’t mix so the oil stuff settled into the lowest points of the wood and made a very nice, high contrast effect. After it dried, which took forever, I used two more coats of the clear over to make them nice and shiny.

Then I glued and nailed these strips around the mirror for a nice rustic frame.

Lastly, I glued and nailed a few more of those strips to the wall to make a cool towel bar. I picked up some metal electrical conduit and some elbow fittings to make an oversized bar.

And HERE IT IS!!!!!
